AI turnover inspection for Guesty
RapidEye reads the before and after photos your cleaners add to each task in the Guesty mobile app, and returns a finding for every task marked Completed.
How a Guesty task worksOverview
A Guesty task records that a clean was scheduled from the reservation, accepted, started and ended; the photos inside it are the only record of what the property looked like, and nothing in Guesty looks at them. The task carries the property, the reservation it was generated from, an assignee and a supervisor, a checklist with timestamped ticks, and the photos the cleaner takes from the Comments section of the Guesty mobile app, each room before and after. Guesty documents those photos as quality control for the manager and as something to share with the owner through the Owners Portal. RapidEye is the part that reads them: it takes the before and after photos plus the property, reservation, assignee and supervisor from the task, and returns one finding per problem, with the two photos side by side, for every task that reaches Completed.
How it works with Guesty
Guesty splits the work into a task template (what the job is, the checklist, who does it, reference attachments) and an auto-task (when it fires relative to the reservation). The cleaner meets the result as one task in the mobile app, and every part of that task is a place a photo gets taken. RapidEye reads each of them.
- The before photos, from the Comments section when the task starts. Guesty's mobile app guidance is to photograph each room before completing the task, so these show how the guest left the property. RapidEye compares them with the last after photos of the same spots, and a new burn on the counter, a cracked shower screen or a stained cushion is attributed to the reservation that triggered this task rather than the one before it. A hypothetical example: a 3-night stay at a two-bedroom, the task ends, and one finding comes back, a chip in the kitchen tile that was not in Tuesday's after photo, with both photos and the reservation dates between them.
- The after photos, taken before End task. These are what a Completed status is standing on, and what a Clean cleaning status inherits when an auto-task is set to change it. RapidEye reads them for what a ticked checklist cannot show: streaks on the glass, a bed made over a stained sheet, a bin liner not replaced, the hall light still out. If the after set skips a room, that is a finding too; a missing photo is the most common way a missed room stays hidden.
- The checklist on the task. Guesty timestamps each item as the cleaner ticks it, which tells you when the cleaner said the towels were restocked. A tick records that the box was checked; RapidEye reads the photo of what the box refers to. A ticked "Restock towels" against a bathroom photo showing two towels where the listing keeps four is a missing-item finding.
- Reference photos in the task template. Guesty lets you attach photos to the template so every generated task carries the same staging reference. RapidEye treats that as your standard: if the reference shows the throw folded on the ottoman and the after photo shows it on the floor, that is a finding against your own picture of done.
- The damage comment for the supervisor. Guesty's mobile app tells the cleaner to photograph damage and leave a comment for the supervisor. Those photos are read like any other, and so is everything the cleaner photographed without commenting; the finding goes to whoever you want, not only the person named as supervisor on the task.
- Calendar-based tasks: inspections and maintenance. A monthly pool inspection or a quarterly maintenance task with photos attached is read the same way, so a loose railing or a spreading ceiling stain is caught the day the photo is taken.
A finding names the property and the room, the type of problem (damage, cleaning, missing item, maintenance), how serious it is, the before and after photos, and a suggested next step. Every finding is in the RapidEye dashboard; Slack and email are optional destinations on top. What happens next in Guesty is yours: a maintenance task for the handyman, a note on the reservation, a Dirty status until someone goes back. What your team already captures is the starting point, whatever form it takes. Teams that film a walkthrough instead of shooting stills, that have a Matterport scan of each listing, or that want findings scored against their own inspection form get that set up with us on the first call.
How to connect Guesty to RapidEye
- A cleaning auto-task that fires from reservations. In Guesty, open the property, create a task template under Task templates with the checklist your cleaners follow, then under Automation, Auto-tasks, schedule it from the check-out event. Every reservation then generates a task on that property, and that task is what RapidEye reads. Multi-units can set this once on the main unit.
- Photos on the task. Your cleaners photograph each room before and after the clean from the task's Comments section in the Guesty mobile app, the way Guesty documents it. Those photos are what RapidEye reads. If your team does not add photos yet, a RapidEye capture link goes in the task's Documents & instructions instead: any phone, no app, a fixed set of angles per room, taken before End task.
- Add RapidEye as a user. In Guesty, go to Account, then User management, then New user, and invite Rapid Eye with the email support@rapideyeinspections.com, a role that can view all tasks, and access to all properties. RapidEye activates the account and starts reading tasks as they complete.
That is the whole setup. Cleaners change nothing, the Tasks page changes nothing, and the first findings follow the first tasks that end.
How a Guesty task works, from template to Completed
Checked against Guesty's help centre, September 2026.
Guesty is a property management system for short-term rental operators, and its help centre documents two kinds of task. According to Guesty's help centre documentation (guesty.com), auto-tasks depend on reservation events such as check-in or check-out and move when the reservation moves, while calendar-based tasks sit on dates, one-off or recurring, and stay attached to the property. Both land on the same Tasks page under Operations, Field ops, and both appear in the Guesty mobile app for whoever is assigned.
Two steps on the property page: a task template (checklist, assignee or group, attachments including photos), then an auto-task under Automation with the timing, for example "At check-out" or "2 hours before check-in", with an optional window between Can start from and Must finish before.
Generated for every existing and future reservation. Cancel the reservation and the task is cancelled; move the check-out and the task moves with it.
Created from the New task button on the dashboard, for one property, a rule, or up to 150 specific properties. Recurring series are generated six months ahead and topped up daily.
Guesty's own examples: inspect the pool monthly, quarterly maintenance, seasonal set-up. Editing one instance detaches that field from the series.
What the cleaner sees in the mobile app, and what each part can prove
Guesty documents the task detail screen in the mobile app field by field. The left side below is that screen as the help centre describes it; the right side is what each part can tell you on its own, and where RapidEye reads.
- Assignee
- Cleaner or group
- Supervisor
- Named user
- Start / end
- From the reservation
- Duration
- Planned
Sections and their contents as documented in Guesty's mobile app and task articles. Highlighted sections are where photos live.
The statuses a task passes through
Guesty's task documentation names the statuses in passing rather than in one list, so here they are in the order a cleaning auto-task meets them. A cleaner accepts a task from the tasks screen or the task detail, taps Start task on arrival, which sets In progress and starts time tracking, and taps End task when finished. Task reports carry both stamps as Start Date and Completion Date.
- 1PendingGenerated from the reservation, waiting for the assignee. Group tasks show as Unassigned until a member accepts.
- 2ConfirmedThe assignee accepted it in the mobile app. If the reservation's check-out time changes, Guesty reverts the task to Pending so the cleaner sees the change and reconfirms.
- 3In progressStart task was tapped. Time tracking begins; before photos are taken here.
- 4CompletedEnd task was tapped. If the auto-task was set to, the listing's cleaning status changes now. After photos are read here.
A cancelled reservation cancels its auto-task. Every change is logged at the bottom of the task, labelled By system, By automation, or with the user's name; a cleaner who accepts a task and ticks the checklist appears by name.
Cleaning status is a separate thing from the task
Beside each listing on the Multi-calendar and on the property page, Guesty keeps a cleaning status with five values: Not set, Unknown, Clean, Waiting For Inspection and Dirty. The help centre describes three ways it moves. A person changes it by hand from the Multi-calendar, the property page or the mobile app. Account or property automation marks a listing Dirty after check-in, or Unknown or Dirty after a set time. And an auto-task can be configured to change the status when it completes, which is how most operators get a listing to Clean. That last path is worth reading slowly: Clean means a cleaning task was ended by its assignee. Waiting For Inspection exists because Guesty expects a second person to look; the photos are what that person would look at.
Does Guesty check the photos cleaners upload?
No, not the images themselves. Guesty's task management page describes quality control through images and notes from the cleaning teams and visibility into quality, and its help centre describes where the photos go: onto the task from the Comments section, onto the task from Documents & instructions, and, for JPEG and PNG files, into a Cleaning and inspections section of the Owners Portal so owners can see them. Its Daily Task Coverage Board agent, generated each morning, flags tasks that are overdue, unassigned or at risk of being missed, which is coverage, not condition. None of the articles describe anyone or anything reviewing what the photos show. Guesty has built the collection side thoroughly: a task per reservation, a camera in the task, a checklist that timestamps itself, a log that names the cleaner. RapidEye is the review side, reading every photo on every task that ends and telling you which properties need a person's eyes.
Guesty integration FAQ
Does RapidEye integrate with Guesty?
Yes. RapidEye reads the before and after photos your cleaners add to a task in the Guesty mobile app, along with the property, the reservation the task was generated from, the assignee and the supervisor, and returns a finding for every task marked Completed: new damage, cleaning that was missed, an item that is gone, with the before and after photos side by side. Your task templates, auto-tasks, checklists, groups, roles and cleaning statuses stay exactly as they are. RapidEye writes nothing to Guesty.
Where do the photos on a Guesty task actually live?
In the task itself. Guesty's help centre says that in the mobile app the cleaner taps the camera icon under Comments to photograph each room before and after completing the task and then adds a comment, and that assignees such as cleaners or inspectors can add photos to tasks associated with a property. Managers can add photos too, under Documents & instructions. Those are the photos RapidEye reads, so nothing has to be exported or moved.
Can RapidEye tell whether a Guesty task marked Completed was actually cleaned?
Yes, from the after photos. In Guesty, Completed means the assignee tapped End task, and a listing's cleaning status flips to Clean because an auto-task was set to change it on completion. Both record that the cleaner said the work was done. RapidEye reads the after photos of that task and reports what they show: an unmade bed, a streaked mirror, a bin not emptied, a light that is still out. When the photos skip a room, that is reported too.
Do my cleaners need another app alongside the Guesty mobile app?
No. They keep accepting, starting and ending tasks in the Guesty mobile app and keep adding photos under Comments the way Guesty documents it. The one habit that helps is a fixed set of angles per room with the lights on, so every turnover photographs the same spots. If a team is not adding photos yet, RapidEye can put a capture link in the task's Documents & instructions instead; it opens in the phone browser with nothing to install.
Will RapidEye change my Guesty tasks, checklists or cleaning statuses?
No. RapidEye reads and reports. It does not create or edit tasks, tick checklist items, reassign anyone, or set a listing to Clean, Dirty or Waiting For Inspection. Findings show up in the RapidEye dashboard, and can be routed to Slack or an inbox on request. What happens next in Guesty, a maintenance task, a note on the reservation, a Dirty status, is your call.
