AI room inspection for SkyTouch

RapidEye reads the room list and stay dates from SkyTouch and the photos your team takes in the rooms, and returns a finding for every room a housekeeper marked ready.

How SkyTouch handles housekeeping

Overview

A SkyTouch room status is a message, not a record of the room. When a housekeeper updates status from a tablet or a phone, that update travels across the system so the front desk, the tape chart and the night audit all agree the room is ready. What travels with it is one word. Nobody downstream can see the burn on the desk, the missing remote or the shower door that has stopped closing. RapidEye fills that in: it reads the room list and stay dates from SkyTouch and the photos taken in each room, and returns a finding, tied to the room number and the stay it belongs to.

Condition under the statusEvery room your team marks ready gets its photos read, so the word in SkyTouch has something behind it.
Damage tied to a stayThe stay dates from SkyTouch sit between the photos of the room before and after, so a charge has dated evidence.
SkyTouch stays the recordNo status, maintenance schedule, out of order block or reservation is touched. RapidEye reads and reports.

How it works with SkyTouch

SkyTouch already knows which rooms exist, who is in them and when they leave. RapidEye uses that skeleton and hangs condition on it, in the moments where a hotel usually loses information.

  • The room a housekeeper just finished. The status flips and the room joins the ready pool. RapidEye reads the photos from that room and comes back with the streaked mirror, the unmade valance, the hair on the tub, the coffee tray that is short two pods.
  • Departure to arrival. The stay dates from SkyTouch bracket the photos on either side of a guest. Anything new inside those dates is attributable, which is the difference between a claim you can make and a story you can tell.
  • Rooms scheduled for maintenance. SkyTouch lets you book a room for maintenance far ahead. RapidEye keeps what the room looked like when the work was scheduled and what it looked like after, so the repair has a dated pair of photos rather than a memory.
  • A section taken out of order. A bulk update pulls a floor or a wing out for a project. Photos of those rooms going out and coming back tell you whether the contractor finished the whole block or the four rooms someone walked.
  • Stocking and standards. RapidEye learns what a finished room looks like at your hotel, down to the placement of the iron and the number of pillows, and says when this one is not that.

A finding names the room, the spot in it, the type of problem, how serious it looks, the photos that show it, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard, and in a channel or an inbox for whoever runs rooms if you want it there. Whether the room goes back to dirty is your call, made in SkyTouch. If your team documents rooms some other way, video walkthroughs, a scan, an inspection format you built yourself, that is a setup conversation rather than a limit; we read what your people already produce and score it against the standard you care about.

How to connect SkyTouch to RapidEye

  1. Your SkyTouch rooms. A SkyTouch account with the rooms you want checked on it, and staff who already update room status from a tablet or a phone. Rooms you keep out of order for a project stay out of the checks until you put them back.
  2. Where the photos come from. SkyTouch publishes no photo field on a room, so RapidEye sends a capture link that opens in any phone browser with nothing to install: a fixed set of angles per room, lights on, taken as the room is finished. No second app is needed when one already holds the room photos; RapidEye reads that one.
  3. Tell us the property. Send us the property name and the SkyTouch account it runs on, and we set up access with you. Your staff keep updating room status in SkyTouch exactly as they do now.

What SkyTouch records about a room, screen by screen

Checked against SkyTouch's published product and support pages, September 2026.

SkyTouch grew out of the choiceADVANTAGE system at Choice Hotels and launched on its own in 2013, aimed at independents, management companies and small chains. According to SkyTouch's product documentation (skytouchtechnology.com), the platform bundles reservations, direct billing, group management, housekeeping, reporting and automated night audits into one cloud system, and the housekeeping half of that is deliberately light: it is about telling everyone where a room stands, quickly, from whatever device is in the hallway. Four surfaces carry a room through the day.

Housekeeping and room maintenance
Records
Room status, updated instantly from a tablet or mobile device, displayed throughout the system so the rest of the staff is in the loop.
Cannot show
Why the status changed, or what the room looked like at the moment somebody set it.
Scheduled maintenance
Records
Rooms booked for maintenance far in advance, so a room comes out of inventory before the work rather than during it.
Cannot show
The condition that caused the booking, or the condition when the work is signed off.
Bulk out of order updates
Records
A whole section of the hotel taken out of order in one action for a larger project.
Cannot show
Which rooms in that section were actually finished, and to what standard.
Tape chart and Smart Welcome
Records
Availability across a date range, reservations serviced in place, the Room Assignment Optimizer spreading usage, and the day's statistics on the home page.
Cannot show
Anything about the physical state of the rooms being sold and assigned.

None of this is a gap in the product so much as a boundary of what a PMS is for. SkyTouch's own integrations page draws the same line: it lists a housekeeping partner category, described as automated housekeeping and data analytics, alongside the categories for locks, point of sale and messaging, and invites vendors to connect through the SkyTouch /CONNECT platform. The PMS holds the room; other systems are expected to hold the work done inside it.

Does SkyTouch store room photos?

Nothing SkyTouch publishes describes one. Its property management pages describe status updates from a tablet or phone, maintenance scheduled ahead, and bulk out of order updates, and its support pages describe SkyTouch University training paths and a customer community that holds release documentation behind a login. The one captured document SkyTouch does describe storing is guest paperwork, not room condition: with the GT paperless check-in tablet, the guest signs the registration card on screen and the signed card is kept in the SkyTouch GT cloud, retrievable later from the reservation page. So the hotel using SkyTouch already trusts a tablet to capture something and keep it. It just does not do that for the rooms. That is the half RapidEye adds, and because the room list and the stay dates come from SkyTouch, every finding arrives attached to a room number and a guest window rather than floating in a photo album.

SkyTouch integration FAQ

Does RapidEye integrate with SkyTouch?

Yes. RapidEye reads the room list and stay dates from SkyTouch and the photos your staff take in the rooms, then returns a finding per room: damage, a missed clean, a missing item, or a maintenance issue, with the photos behind it. Room statuses, out of order blocks and reservations in SkyTouch are left exactly as your staff set them.

Does SkyTouch store room photos?

Nothing SkyTouch publishes describes one. Its property management pages describe updating room status from a tablet or mobile device, scheduling rooms for maintenance in advance, and bulk updates that take a section of the hotel out of order. The one captured document SkyTouch does describe storing is the signed registration card from its GT paperless check-in tablet, which is guest paperwork rather than room condition. Room photos for RapidEye come from a capture link on your team's phones, or from wherever they already photograph rooms.

Can RapidEye check a room after housekeeping updates the status in SkyTouch?

Yes, that is the point of it. A status update in SkyTouch says a person considers the room done and pushes that through the system to the front desk. RapidEye reads the photos taken in the room and says what condition it is actually in: a stain that survived the clean, a chipped nightstand, a missing remote, a bathroom fan that is coming off the ceiling. The finding names the room so the supervisor knows which door to open.

Will RapidEye change a room status or a reservation in SkyTouch?

No. SkyTouch stays the system of record for statuses, maintenance schedules, out of order blocks and reservations. RapidEye reads and reports; your manager decides whether a room goes back to dirty or a room gets blocked.

We run several hotels on SkyTouch. Does this work across the portfolio?

Yes. Each property keeps its own room list and its own baseline of what a finished room looks like there, and findings roll up so a regional manager can see which hotels are drifting and which are steady. Management companies and small chains are the shape of operator SkyTouch was built for, and they are the shape of operator this is most useful to.

Our housekeepers do not use phones on shift. Can this still work?

Usually yes, because the photos do not have to come from the housekeeper. Plenty of hotels have the supervisor or the manager on duty photograph rooms during their own walk, and RapidEye reads those instead. Whoever holds the phone, the capture link opens in the phone browser with nothing to install.
