AI room inspection for Shiji
Read the photos from every room your attendants clear out of the Room to Clean view in Daylight PMS, and get one finding per problem instead of one status per room.
How Daylight PMS housekeeping worksOverview
Daylight PMS tracks the work in a room, not the state of it. Shiji's Housekeeping Mobile App puts every task for a room, minibar refills, an extra bed, a special guest request, inside the attendant's Room to Clean view, updated in real time as each one is completed and cleared out of sight once done. What none of it records is what the room looked like when the attendant walked out. RapidEye reads the room list and the stay dates from Daylight PMS along with the photos your attendants take, and returns a finding per problem, attached to the room and the stay it belongs to.
How it works with Shiji
Shiji built the housekeeping app around the attendant's day, so the checks sit at the same points that day already has.
- The room leaving the Room to Clean view. A room drops off the list when the attendant is finished with it. RapidEye reads the photos from that room and says whether finished holds: a bed remade badly, a smeared shower screen, a bulb out in a lamp nobody switched on.
- Tasks that were raised, and tasks that were not. Shiji surfaces tasks due today and overdue, and hides them once completed. RapidEye reports the problems no one opened a task for, which is the harder half.
- Departments and task types. Activation of tasks in the app is configured by department or task type, so findings arrive grouped the way you already split the floor, not in a flat list somebody has to sort.
- Stayovers and long stays. A service clean partway through a stay is the cheapest moment to catch a spill, a broken drawer or an amenity nobody replaced. RapidEye compares today's photos with the ones from the start of the stay.
- Rooms handed to maintenance. The photo from before the work and the photo after it give a repair a dated record, which matters when a room is out of inventory for a week in a group that measures it.
Each finding names the room, the spot in it, the kind of problem, how serious it is, the photos on both sides of the stay, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard, and in a channel or inbox for the housekeeping office if you want one. Nothing changes in Daylight PMS unless a person changes it. If your attendants shoot a video walkthrough on the tablet they already carry, or your group inspects against a brand standard written in-house, that is a setup conversation and not a limit: RapidEye reads the documentation your teams already produce and scores it against the standard you care about.
How to connect Shiji to RapidEye
- The rooms and stays in Daylight PMS. A property with the rooms you clean and the reservations against them. The departments and task types you already configured for the Housekeeping Mobile App carry through to how findings are grouped.
- Room photos from your attendants. Shiji attaches a file to a task, not to a clean, so RapidEye sends a capture link that opens on any phone or tablet with nothing to install. A fixed set of angles per room, lights on, taken before the room leaves the list. If the photos are already being taken somewhere, RapidEye reads them where they are.
- The property and the group. Shiji keeps its Daylight PMS user administration behind the customer login on its documentation centre, so tell us the property and the group it belongs to and we set the access up with your administrator.
What travels with a room in Daylight PMS
Checked against Shiji's product pages and housekeeping announcements, September 2026.
Shiji renamed Shiji Enterprise Platform to Daylight PMS, and the two names still appear side by side in its own material, including API documentation that describes changes deployed to the Shiji Enterprise Platform API. According to Shiji's product documentation and announcements (shijigroup.com), the housekeeping half of the product is a mobile app for the attendant plus dashboards for the office, with tasks now living at room level inside the Room to Clean view rather than on a separate list or a printed sheet.
Carried today
- Room and its status
- Reservation and stay dates
- Tasks due today
- Overdue tasks
- Assigned attendant
- Department or task type
- Comments on a task
- Attachments on a task
Everything an attendant needs to do the work, in one screen, with nothing to leave and come back from.
Not carried
- What the room looked like
- What changed during the stay
- Problems nobody raised
- Proof for a damage charge
A completed task disappears from the active view. The condition it was completed in was never written down anywhere.
That is the honest shape of a modern PMS: it is excellent at the record of work and silent on the state of the asset. Shiji says as much in how it frames the feature, which is about eliminating fragmented task tracking and paper sheets so attendants can focus on execution rather than navigation. Execution is the thing being tracked. Condition is a separate question, and today it gets answered by a supervisor walking a sample of rooms.
Can a task in Daylight PMS carry a photo?
Yes, and that is not the same as a room carrying one. Shiji describes attendants adding comments or attachments to a task from inside the room view, for coordination with the rest of the team. An attachment on a task is evidence about a thing somebody already found and reported. It says nothing about the ninety rooms that went through the day without a task, and those rooms are the population a housekeeping director actually needs to see. RapidEye reads all of them.
Why the group layer is where this pays
Shiji sells Daylight PMS to hotel groups, and its multi-property story is about standardised workflows, global policy and quality control managed centrally regardless of where a property sits. Standards travel well. Evidence does not: it stays on the floor it happened on, in somebody's memory or in a supervisor's spot check. This is what the integration puts in front of a regional or corporate team.
- By propertyWhich hotels clear rooms clean and which ones clear them fast, on the same scale.
- By floor or departmentThe department split you already run in the app becomes the unit findings group into.
- By attendantWho has a clean record over hundreds of rooms and who needs a morning of retraining.
- By stayEvery new mark placed inside the reservation dates that Daylight PMS holds for that room.
Shiji integration FAQ
Does RapidEye integrate with Shiji?
Yes. RapidEye reads the room list and stay dates from Daylight PMS and the room photos your attendants take, then returns a finding per room: damage, a missed clean, a missing amenity, or a standard the room does not meet, with the photos behind it. Room status, tasks and reservations in Shiji stay exactly as your team left them.
Is Shiji Enterprise Platform the same thing as Daylight PMS?
Yes. Shiji renamed Shiji Enterprise Platform to Daylight PMS, and Shiji's own pages carry both names, with the API documentation still describing endpoints deployed to the Shiji Enterprise Platform API. If your property was implemented under the old name, nothing about this integration changes.
Can a Daylight PMS task carry a photo of the room?
A task can carry an attachment, and Shiji describes attendants adding comments or attachments to tasks in the Room to Clean view for better coordination. That covers the thing an attendant already noticed and raised. A room cleaned with no task raised produces no image, which is exactly the room RapidEye reads.
We run Shiji across a group. Can one standard be applied to every property?
That is the reason to do it. Shiji manages standardized workflows and quality control centrally across a portfolio, but the evidence of what a room looked like stays on the floor it happened on. RapidEye scores every property's photos against the same standard and rolls the findings up by brand, region, property and attendant.
Does this work with video walkthroughs instead of photos?
Yes. Attendants walking a room on a phone or a tablet produce richer coverage than stills, and RapidEye reads video walkthroughs, photo sets and 3D scans the same way. If your group already inspects against a brand standard of its own, that standard is what the findings get scored against.
Will RapidEye change room status or tasks in Daylight PMS?
No. Daylight PMS stays the system of record for room status, tasks, rates and reservations. RapidEye reads and reports; your housekeeping office decides whether a room goes back on the list or a task gets raised.
