Overview

A VelocityEHS inspection is a set of answers with photos hanging off it, and the answers are what anyone reads. The record carries a location, a published checklist, an answer per question, findings, corrective actions and attachments, and it moves through review the moment it is submitted. The photos are filed correctly and almost never opened again, because a plant running pre-shift forklift checks daily, waste storage inspections weekly and housekeeping rounds monthly generates far more frames than a safety lead can look at. RapidEye reads every photo on every submitted record, matches it to the site and area it came from, and returns a finding for what the photo shows rather than what the answer said.

How it works with VelocityEHS

VelocityEHS separates the three things a person can start in the field, so the checks follow that split. Each one produces photos of a different thing, and each one gets read differently.

  • Inspections. A checklist against a place: a hazardous waste container storage area, a fire protection round, a 5S check sheet on a line. The photos are of the area, so RapidEye compares them to what that same area looked like the last several times it was walked and reports the drift: a pallet stack that grew into an aisle, a spill kit that used to be on that wall, an eyewash station now behind a cage.
  • Audits. A structured evaluation with an action plan behind it. The photos are evidence for a score, so RapidEye reads them against the same standard every site is scored on and tells you where the photo and the score disagree.
  • Observations. A record about behaviour on the job rather than a place. Where a photo is attached, RapidEye reads the scene around the person: what is stacked, what is blocked, what is open, and whether the same condition shows up in that area's other records.
  • Pre-shift equipment checks. Forklift checks run one to three times a day, per truck. The photos are near-identical by design, which is exactly the case a person cannot review and a comparison can: a fork that is bent this week and was not last week, a guard missing, a plate unreadable.
  • Housekeeping and 5S rounds. The judgement here is about how a space looks against how it is supposed to look, which is the thing a baseline is good at. RapidEye holds a picture of the standard for that area and says where today's photos are away from it.

Each finding names the site and area, where in the frame it sits, the kind of problem, how serious it looks, the earlier and current photos, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want, a Slack channel or an inbox for the safety team. Your team decides whether it becomes a finding or an action item in VelocityEHS. These are examples rather than limits: RapidEye reads whatever documentation your teams already produce, video walkthroughs and 3D scans included, and reports against whatever standard you actually care about, so if your case is not one of the five above, it is a conversation rather than a no.

How to connect VelocityEHS to RapidEye

  1. A VelocityEHS account with your sites in the location tree. Records are filed against a location, and published templates are only available at the location you attached them to and the levels beneath it, so the tree decides what is in scope. Templates you never published, or that live under a location you do not want read, stay out.
  2. Photos on the records. VelocityEHS lets your team attach photos while completing a checklist on any device, so in most cases nothing changes: RapidEye reads what is already there, including the history in past records. Where a checklist your team runs has never asked for a photo, RapidEye supplies a capture link that opens on any phone with no app to install, a fixed set of angles for that area, taken while the person is still standing in it.
  3. Add RapidEye as a user. Create the user in VelocityEHS the way you create any other one. The modal has the exact path and the details to paste.

VelocityEHS runs Audits, Inspections and Observations as one module on the Accelerate platform, alongside Incidents, Compliance, Actions, Meetings and Training. According to VelocityEHS help centre documentation (ehs.com), the person doing the work picks Inspection from the Add New menu, fills in the record's details, selects a published checklist and hits Begin Inspection, then answers each question and adds findings and actions as they go. The parts below are what that leaves behind.

Does VelocityEHS let you attach photos to an inspection?

Yes, on any device. The Inspections product page states that you can create custom digital checklists, attach photos and documents, and complete inspections from any device, even offline, and the mobile app documentation says an Inspection is one of the six things you can start from the Add button, alongside Incident, Near Miss, Hazard ID, Observation and Action Item. The app can hold your most-used checklists locally for faster loading and sync only over Wi-Fi if you tell it to. So the capture side is solved and has been for years.

What the documentation does not describe is anyone reading the photos afterwards. The review roles exist to confirm a record is thorough and accurate before it concludes, and reporting rolls the answers up into trends by site. Both of those run on the answers, not on the frames. That is not a gap in VelocityEHS: it is what happens to any archive that grows by a few hundred photos a week per plant. The integration is the part that reads them.

Each area also builds its own baseline from the photo history already in your past records, which is what makes a change in that area visible.

Our teams inspect offline in the plant. Does that matter?

No. VelocityEHS says inspections can be scheduled, performed and submitted from the mobile app even when the person is offline, and the photos travel with the record when it syncs. RapidEye reads them once they land, so a check done in a basement or a yard is treated the same as one done at a desk.
