AI condition checks for TSD
RapidEye reads the walkaround photos taken on a TSD rental or loaner agreement and reports what is new on the vehicle between check-out and check-in, on the right unit and the right agreement.
How a TSD agreement records conditionOverview
A TSD agreement is the strongest record in the business of who had which vehicle and when; the photos hanging off it are the weakest record of what shape it was in. TSD gives an agent a fast, documented handover: the licence scanned, the insurance captured, the agreement signed on a phone, and damage photographed during the walkaround so it is on file. The photos are then filed and forgotten unless somebody complains. RapidEye reads them: the check-out set against the check-in set for the same unit and the same agreement, and reports what changed, on every vehicle that comes back rather than the handful that turn into arguments.
How it works with TSD
A vehicle on TSD moves through a fixed set of moments, and each one is a moment somebody has a phone in their hand. The checks follow that path.
- Check-out at the counter. The walkaround photos taken as the agreement opens are the baseline for that rental. RapidEye reads them against the unit's last return, so a dent that survived the previous agreement is already known, and the driver taking the keys is not carrying somebody else's damage.
- Delivery and collection, and service pickup and delivery. When the car is handed over in a driveway, the person doing it is following a driver checklist with a customer waiting. RapidEye reads the delivery photos so the handover is documented properly without asking the driver to slow down and judge condition.
- Check-in on return. The comparison that matters. New scrapes, a cracked light, a wheel curbed on a kerb somewhere: each comes back as a finding with the check-out frame beside it, before the unit is cleaned and put back on the line.
- Interiors, not just paint. Damage documentation on a rental tends to mean bodywork, because that is what a walkaround sees. The photos also show a burned seat, a stain on the carpet, a missing cargo cover or a child seat left behind, and those come back as findings too.
- Readiness before the next rental. Between agreements, the same read tells you whether the unit is actually ready to go out: cleaned, undamaged, complete. A vehicle failing that check is better found on your lot than by the next customer.
Each finding names the unit and the agreement, the place on the vehicle, the kind of problem, how serious it is, the two photos side by side, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard, and in a Slack channel or an inbox per location if you want it there. Whether that becomes a charge, an insurance claim or a note on the unit is your call, made in TSD.The walkaround photos are the natural start, not the whole story. Operators who would rather record a video walkaround, or who want findings scored against a condition standard of their own, get that set up with us on the first call.
How to connect TSD to RapidEye
- Your fleet and your agreements. RapidEye needs the vehicle list and the agreement dates from your TSD operation, so a finding lands on the right unit and the right driver. Units you hold out of service stay out.
- The walkaround photos. Your agents and drivers keep photographing the vehicle in the TSD app as they do now. Where a step is not photographed today, a curbside delivery or a late-night return, a RapidEye capture link covers it: any phone, nothing to install, the same set of angles every time.
- A conversation with us. Tell us you run TSD, how many units and locations, and where your vehicle photos live today. We connect it with your team; the counter and the curb work exactly as they did.
How a TSD agreement records vehicle condition
Checked against TSD's product pages and product announcements, September 2026.
TSD builds fleet mobility software for dealerships, automotive manufacturers, auto groups and car rental companies, split into TSD RENTAL for rental operators and TSD DEALER for loaner and courtesy fleets, with a mobile app on each side. According to TSD's product documentation (tsdweb.com), both products describe damage documentation the same way: record all damage, from minor dents to broken bumpers, by taking pictures in the app during your walkaround. The TSD Rental app lists vehicle inspection alongside opening and closing agreements, fleet inventory, and barcode and driver's licence scanning, and TSD's own announcement of the redesigned rental app leads with an improved damage documentation process and simplified check-in and check-out steps, with more visual damage documentation flows planned. The vehicle's condition, in other words, is captured twice per agreement, by whoever is standing next to the car.
Check-out
- Agreement openedLicence or passport scanned, insurance captured, the agreement e-signed by the driver, at a counter or contactless from their phone.
- Walkaround photographedThe agent records existing damage in the app so the operator is not later blamed for it.
- Or handed over off-siteDelivery, collection and service pickup put the handover in a driveway, with the driver working a step-by-step checklist in the app.
RapidEye reads it as the baseline for this agreement, and checks it against how the unit came back last time.
Check-in
- Vehicle returnedFuel and mileage are calculated onto the agreement, tolls matched to the period the driver had the car.
- Walkaround photographed againThe same pass around the car, usually with the next customer waiting and the light going.
- Charges settledIncidentals adjusted at the return, then the unit is cleaned and goes back on the line.
RapidEye reads it as the answer to what changed, panel by panel, and returns a finding before the evidence is a month old.
The two halves of a TSD agreement as TSD documents them. The photos exist on both sides; the comparison between them is the part nobody has time to do by hand.
Does TSD compare the check-out photos to the check-in photos?
Not on its own, and it is candid about the value of doing it: TSD has publicly described automated pick-up versus drop-off condition comparison, tied to the specific rental or loaner agreement, as the way to make the process objective and cut disputes. That is the right instinct, and the agreement record TSD keeps is what makes the comparison meaningful in the first place, because the two photo sets can be tied to one driver and one date range. What a hardware-based scan cannot cover is every place a vehicle changes hands: a driveway delivery, a satellite lot, an after-hours key drop, a dealer courtesy car that goes out from the service drive. RapidEye works from the photos themselves, taken on the phone that is already in the agent's or the driver's hand, so the check happens wherever the vehicle actually is. It reads paint, panels, glass, wheels and interiors, and it holds the unit's whole photo history rather than the current agreement alone, which is how a scuff gets a date instead of an argument.
TSD integration FAQ
Does RapidEye integrate with TSD?
Yes. RapidEye reads the vehicle list and the agreement dates from your TSD operation, plus the walkaround photos your agents and drivers take, and returns a finding for every vehicle that comes back: new damage, an interior left in a state, a missing accessory, with the check-out photo next to the check-in photo. Your reservations, agreements, charges and vehicle records in TSD are not changed.
Which photos does RapidEye read on a TSD agreement?
Whichever ones your team already takes. TSD documents damage documentation in both the TSD RENTAL and TSD DEALER apps, where an agent photographs dents and bumper damage during the walkaround, and the TSD Rental app lists vehicle inspection among its features. Those photos are the input. Where a location does not photograph a step yet, such as a curbside delivery, a RapidEye capture link fills the gap from any phone.
Can RapidEye settle a damage dispute with a renter?
It gives you the evidence to settle one. A finding is the check-out photo of that panel beside the check-in photo of the same panel, on the same agreement, with the dates attached. That is what a renter, a dealer's service manager or an insurer needs to see, and it is a very different conversation from a walkaround sheet with a pen mark on a car diagram.
Does this work for dealership loaners and service pickup and delivery?
Yes, and delivery is where it earns its place. When the vehicle changes hands at the customer's home or workplace, the person doing the handover is a valet driver working from a checklist in the app, not a returns agent at a counter. RapidEye reads the photos from that handover the same way, so a loaner that leaves clean and comes back scuffed is caught without asking the driver to be an inspector.
Will RapidEye change anything in TSD?
No. TSD stays the system of record for the reservation, the agreement, the vehicle and every charge. RapidEye reads and reports. Findings land in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want them there, in a Slack channel or an inbox per location. Whether a finding becomes a charge, a claim or a note on the unit is your decision.
