AI room inspection for Netsmart communities

RapidEye reads the room number and level of care from your myUnity resident record and the photos your housekeeping and maintenance teams take, and returns a finding for every room it can see.

What the myUnity record holds

Overview

The myUnity resident record follows a person through a community; it does not follow a room. Netsmart built myUnity as a single electronic health record spanning independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and life plan communities, so when someone moves from one level of care to another the chart moves with them instead of starting again. That is the hard problem in senior living software and Netsmart solved it well. The room the person left behind is a different question, answered by a housekeeper, a maintenance lead or a manager with a phone, and those photos sit in a folder nobody reads. RapidEye reads them, files each finding against the room rather than the resident, and returns what changed since the last time that room was photographed.

A history for the roomEvery photo of a room joins that room's record, so the wall, the floor and the furniture have a dated history.
Evidence a family can seeWhat a visitor notices is the corridor, the bathroom, the chair. Findings give you that in writing before they do.
Netsmart stays the recordNo resident record, care note, task or schedule in myUnity is read for care content or written to.

How it works with Netsmart

myUnity gives the integration the two things it needs to file a finding correctly: which rooms exist, and what level of care each one sits in. The photos come from the building side of your operation, and the checks follow the walks your teams already do.

  • Room readiness after a move-out. A room is stripped and made ready for the next resident, often against a waiting list. RapidEye compares today's photos with the room as it was photographed before the tenancy, and returns the scuffed skirting, the missing chair, the stained carpet and the hole where a grab rail came off, each with both frames.
  • Housekeeping rounds. A daily or weekly clean is documented by a person who is also doing the cleaning. RapidEye reads the photos for what the round is meant to have covered: the bathroom that was not touched, the bin left full, the bulb out over the sink.
  • Maintenance work, before and after. A photo when the job is raised and a photo when it is closed turns a closed work order into a repair with proof. Where a photo shows the same crack widening across three months, that is a finding about the building rather than about the job.
  • Environment of care and safety rounds. Corridors, stairwells, fire doors, handrails, exit routes, laundry rooms and dining rooms. RapidEye returns hazards it can see: a blocked exit route, a trailing cable, a wet floor with no sign, a handrail off the wall.
  • Level of care transitions inside the building. When a resident moves from assisted living to skilled nursing, myUnity keeps one record and two rooms change hands on the same day. RapidEye reads both, so the room being left and the room being taken up are each signed off on evidence.

A finding names the room and the spot in it, the kind of problem, how serious it is, the earlier and current photos, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want, an inbox or Slack channel for the maintenance and housekeeping leads. What happens in Netsmart afterwards is entirely yours. Photos are the common case, not the limit: teams that film a walkthrough on the phone, hold 3D scans of their units, or want findings scored against their own environment-of-care form get that set up with us.

How to connect Netsmart to RapidEye

  1. The room list from myUnity. Bring the rooms and units your community runs, with the level of care each one sits in. Findings are filed against that list, so a finding names a room and never a resident.
  2. Where the room photos come from. myUnity is a clinical record and holds no room condition photos, so the photos come from your building teams: a housekeeper's or maintenance lead's phone, a shared folder, a work order system. If nobody photographs rooms yet, a RapidEye capture link opens in any phone browser with nothing to install, and asks for a fixed set of angles per room.
  3. Access for RapidEye. Tell us you run Netsmart and which communities are in scope. Netsmart does not document a self-serve way to add an outside user, so we arrange access with your team and your Netsmart contact. Care staff install nothing and change nothing about their day.

What the myUnity resident record holds, and what holds the room

Checked against Netsmart's senior living product documentation, September 2026.

Netsmart describes myUnity as a single resident record for all senior living care settings. According to Netsmart's own senior living documentation (ntst.com), that record spans life plan communities, independent and assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home health, hospice, private duty and adult day care, so a resident moving between levels keeps one chart rather than starting a new one. Netsmart names the pieces around it as well: electronic prescribing and an eMAR, role-based views configured per role, documentation from any web-enabled device at the bedside, a quality assurance workflow with defined queues where reviewers flag notes and clinicians answer the remarks, business intelligence dashboards, and CareConnect for exchanging referrals and records with hospitals and health information exchanges. Everything in that list is organised around a person.

What myUnity follows

  • The residentOne record across every level of care in the community.
  • The care givenAssessments, orders, medications, documentation packets.
  • The transitionsReferrals in, moves between settings, records exchanged with hospitals.
  • The documentation qualityQA queues, flagged notes, corrections, dashboards.

What follows the room

  • Nothing, by defaultThe room number is an attribute of a resident, not a record of its own.
  • The conditionCarpet, paint, furniture, bathroom fittings, the state a family walks into.
  • The wear between residentsWhat one tenancy did, and what the last repair actually fixed.
  • The hazardsBlocked routes, loose rails, failed bulbs, water where it should not be.

Left, the record Netsmart maintains, from its senior living and myUnity pages. Right, the questions asked about the same building by housekeeping, maintenance, families and surveyors.

Which settings does myUnity cover?

All of them, in one record. Netsmart lists the settings explicitly, and a community running several of them is the case myUnity is built around.

  • Life plan communities (CCRCs)
  • Independent living
  • Assisted living
  • Memory care
  • Skilled nursing
  • Adult day care
  • Home health
  • Hospice
  • Private duty

Does myUnity have a maintenance or housekeeping module?

Not in what Netsmart documents. The senior living pages, the myUnity offering page and the independent living, assisted living and memory care page describe clinical documentation, medication management, service level billing, referral and intake, interoperability, analytics and a quality assurance workflow for documentation. None of them describes a work order, a room inspection form or a photo of a room, and that is a scoping decision rather than a gap: an EHR is a clinical system, and building maintenance sits outside it in every senior living stack we have looked at. The consequence is the same either way. The person who knows what room 214 looked like last month is the housekeeper who cleaned it, and that knowledge exists as photos on a phone. RapidEye is the part that reads them, gives the room a record of its own, and hands the maintenance lead a list rather than a folder.

Netsmart integration FAQ

Does RapidEye integrate with Netsmart?

Yes. RapidEye reads the room number and level of care from your myUnity resident record, plus the photos your housekeeping, maintenance and management teams take in rooms and common areas, and returns a finding per issue: damage, a missed clean, a missing item, a maintenance or safety problem, with the earlier and current photos of the same spot. Nothing in myUnity is written to or changed. Netsmart stays the resident record.

Does myUnity include a maintenance or housekeeping module?

Netsmart's senior living pages describe myUnity as an electronic health record: a single resident record across independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and life plan communities, with medication management, billing, referral management, analytics and interoperability. They describe clinical documentation and quality assurance queues, not building work orders or room condition. Communities usually run maintenance in a separate system or on paper, and that is where the room photos live.

Does RapidEye read anything clinical from the resident record?

No. RapidEye reads the building, not the resident. It uses the room or unit number and the level of care so a finding can be routed to the right team, and it reads photos of rooms, bathrooms, corridors and common areas. Care notes, assessments, medications and anything else in the resident record stay where they are, and RapidEye makes no judgment about care.

What do the photos come from if myUnity holds none?

Whatever your team already takes. Photos from a housekeeper's or maintenance lead's phone, a shared folder, or a work order system all work. If a team is not photographing rooms yet, RapidEye sends a capture link that opens in a phone browser with nothing to install, with a fixed set of angles per room so the same spots are photographed every time.

Can RapidEye help with a room turnover between residents?

That is the clearest case. When a resident moves out or moves to another level of care, the room is stripped, cleaned and made ready for the next person, often in a few days. RapidEye compares the move-out photos to the photos of the same room from before the tenancy, so what needs repairing, replacing or repainting is a list rather than a memory, and the room is signed off on evidence.

Will RapidEye change anything in Netsmart?

No. RapidEye writes nothing to myUnity: no resident record, no note, no task, no schedule, no billing line. Findings land in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want them there, in an inbox or Slack channel for the maintenance and housekeeping leads. What happens next, a work order, a repair, a charge, is your call.
