What one AutoLeap inspection line holdsOverview
An AutoLeap inspection is built to persuade a customer, and it does that job well; it was never meant to be a condition archive that somebody re-reads. A technician runs a checklist on a tablet, colour-codes each item, attaches annotated photos and video, and recommends services the customer approves or defers from a phone. Once the answer comes back, the images have done their work and go quiet on the repair order. RapidEye reads them: every photo and video on the inspection, plus the vehicle, the repair order and the date, and returns a finding for each thing the images show, including the ones the technician photographed but never wrote up. AutoLeap holds the job. RapidEye tells you what the pictures on it are actually of.
How it works with AutoLeap
AutoLeap's inspection has a fixed shape: a checklist attached to an estimate, a colour per item, media on the items that need it, then a recommendation the customer answers. The checks follow that shape, so nothing about the technician's day changes.
- Check-in, before the checklist starts. The technician app is where a customer gets checked in and a VIN gets decoded. Photos taken at that moment are the only honest record of how the car arrived. RapidEye holds them as the visit's opening state and compares everything later against them.
- Red and yellow items. These are the ones your advisor sells from, so the photo has to carry the argument. RapidEye reads it and says whether it does: a rotor shot where the wear edge is out of frame, a leak photo taken too close to show where the fluid is coming from, an annotation pointing at the wrong part of the image.
- Green items and unmarked ones. A checklist run in a hurry looks identical to a thorough one in the report. RapidEye reads the photos behind the green lines too, and a finding on a component nobody recommended anything for is usually the most valuable thing in the batch.
- The end of the job. Photos taken before the vehicle goes back to the customer, set against the check-in photos from the same repair order, are how a shop stops arguing about a scuffed wheel. RapidEye names what is different between the two sets.
- Fleet and repeat units. AutoLeap's checklists cover cars, trucks and fleets, and a fleet unit comes back on a cycle. Read visit against visit, the inspection photos become a condition history per unit rather than a pile of images per invoice.
- Whatever else your shop captures. Video, audio notes, a walkaround clip somebody shoots on their own phone, a documentation format you invented for one insurance customer. If it is a record of the vehicle, reading it is a setup conversation, not a limitation.
Each finding names the vehicle and the repair order, the place on the car, the type of problem, how serious it is, the earlier photo next to the current one, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want it, a Slack channel or an inbox the front counter already reads. Nothing changes in AutoLeap unless a person changes it.
How to connect AutoLeap to RapidEye
- An AutoLeap account with the inspection checklists your shop attaches to estimates. Custom checklists you built for a truck, a specialty job or one fleet account are read the same way as the pre-built ones.
- The photos you already take. Technicians attach annotated photos, videos, audio files and notes in the technician app; RapidEye reads that set. For a bay that skips the inspection, or a service with no checklist behind it, a RapidEye capture link opens on any phone with no app to install and covers a fixed set of angles.
- A user for us. Add Rapid Eye under Settings, then Users; the modal has the fields. Nobody in the bays has anything new to learn or install.

AutoLeap is shop management software: estimating, scheduling, work orders, invoicing and payments, with the inspection wired into the estimate rather than sitting beside it. According to AutoLeap's own product documentation (autoleap.com), the sequence is fixed: a pre-built checklist is attached when an estimate is created, the technician works through it with a colour-coded status and multimedia attachments, services are recommended off the results, and the customer approves or defers. Below is one line of that checklist, with everything AutoLeap says can hang off it.
The parts worth dwelling on are the canned notes and the colour key, because both are there to make a technician faster and both flatten information on the way past. A canned note is a standard sentence, which is exactly what you want on an estimate and exactly what strips the detail that made this car different from the last one with the same complaint. A colour is three states for a condition that has more than three. The photograph is the only part of the line that keeps the full detail, and the photograph is the part with no reader.
Who looks at the inspection photos after the customer answers?
In practice, nobody, and not through any fault of the software. AutoLeap describes the loop honestly on its own pages: shops report that approval time drops from hours to minutes once customers can see the photos, which means the images have served their purpose within the same shift. After the approval, the job moves along the work board from estimate to invoice, drag by drag, and the photo set stays attached to a closed repair order. Everything needed for a second reading is there, filed under the right VIN with the right date, and there is no hour in a shop's day when somebody sits down and does it. That is the whole job RapidEye takes: read all of them, this visit and the last one, and hand back the short list of things worth a person's eyes.

Does RapidEye integrate with AutoLeap?
Yes. RapidEye reads the annotated photos, videos and notes your technicians attach to an AutoLeap inspection, along with the vehicle, the repair order and the date, and returns a finding for each thing the images show: a panel that was straight last visit, a leak spreading under the same bracket, a wheel scuffed since drop-off, a red item whose photo does not support it. The inspection, the checklist, the estimate and the work board in AutoLeap are untouched.
Do the photos have to come from the AutoLeap technician app?
No, though that is the usual case. AutoLeap's technician app is where techs conduct inspections and attach videos, audio files, text notes and annotated photos, so most shops already produce the set RapidEye needs. If a bay skips the inspection, or a service you run has no checklist behind it, a RapidEye capture link opens on any phone with no app to install and covers a fixed set of angles instead.
What does RapidEye see that the customer report does not?
The customer report shows what a technician chose to recommend. RapidEye reads the whole photo set behind it, including images on lines nobody recommended a service for, and compares them to the same vehicle's previous visits. That is where the useful findings usually are: the thing that got photographed and never written up, and the thing that changed since March.
Will RapidEye change a repair order or an estimate in AutoLeap?
No. AutoLeap stays the system of record for the checklist, the inspection, the estimate, the repair order and the work board. RapidEye reads and reports. A finding is a prompt for your advisor, not an edit.
Can it settle an argument about damage that happened at the shop?
It replaces memory with two dated photographs. A check-in inspection in the technician app and the photos taken at the end of the job bracket the visit, and RapidEye lines them up and says what is different between them. It does the same across visits, so a mark someone insists is new can be shown sitting in a photo from the previous repair order.
Is this useful for a shop that runs fleet accounts?
Especially then. AutoLeap says its checklists cover cars, trucks and fleets, and a fleet account is the same handful of units coming back on a cycle. Reading each visit against the unit's own history turns a pile of inspection photos into a condition record per unit, which is the thing a fleet customer keeps asking for and nobody has time to assemble.
