Where Hemlane keeps photosOverview
Hemlane holds a real photo record of your units and no way to compare any two photos in it. The Maintenance and Repair tab asks for photos of the issue and the affected area on every request, so a unit rented for three years is carrying dozens of dated looks at its own kitchen, bathroom and floors. Nobody reopens them. When a tenancy ends and a deposit is contested, the question is what that room looked like on day one, and the answer is scattered across closed requests in no particular order. RapidEye reads your property and unit list from Hemlane along with those photos, builds a baseline per unit, and returns a finding for each change it can see, with the earlier photo and the later photo attached.
How it works with Hemlane
A Hemlane unit's photo trail has a shape to it: dense where something broke, thin everywhere else, and absent at the two moments that decide a deposit. The integration follows that trail.
- Open maintenance requests. The photos of the issue and the affected area arrive with the request. RapidEye reads them the way an experienced manager would: not only the leak under the sink, but the swollen cabinet base beside it and the drip tray that is no longer there.
- Closed requests and completed work orders. A work order closes on a status someone chooses, and the request can be closed along with it with a typed reason. RapidEye compares any photo on that request against the earlier state of the same room, so a repair that left a patch unpainted or a cabinet door hanging comes back as a finding rather than a resolved ticket.
- Move-in and move-out. This is where Hemlane holds nothing, and it is the pair that matters. Photos taken on a phone at move-in become the unit's baseline; the same angles at move-out come back as a list of differences, each one dated on both ends.
- The quiet drift between tenancies. A burner ring gone, a blind slat snapped, a bathroom fan nobody has touched in a year, a second smoke detector that used to be in the hallway. These are reported against what your unit looked like before, not against a generic checklist.
- Coordinated repairs. If Hemlane's repair coordinators are fielding requests for you, you see the outcome and not the room. The photos still land on the request, and RapidEye reads them, so you know whether the unit came back whole.
Each finding names the property and unit, the room, the item, what kind of problem it is, how serious it is, the earlier and later photo, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want it there, an inbox or a Slack channel. What happens in Hemlane afterwards is your call. How to connect Hemlane to RapidEye
- The properties. A Hemlane account with the units you want checked already added, because the property and unit records are what findings get filed against. Units that are not in Hemlane stay outside the integration.
- The photos. Your existing maintenance and repair request photos are read on connection, one dated look at part of a unit per request. For whole rooms, RapidEye sends a capture link that opens on any phone with no app to install: a fixed set of angles per room, taken at move-in and again at move-out.
- The invite. In Hemlane, open Your Team, select + User, and add RapidEye by name and email, assigned to the properties you want covered. The connect panel on this page carries the exact details.
Where Hemlane actually keeps photos, and where it does not

Hemlane is a management platform for rental owners and small managers: a tenant portal, a Maintenance and Repair tab, work orders, service professionals, and an optional US-based repair coordination team that answers tenant calls, troubleshoots, and dispatches standard jobs such as a plumbing clog or an air conditioner that is not cooling. According to Hemlane's help centre documentation (hemlane.com), a tenant opens a request from the Maintenance and Repair tab, picks a category, works through whatever troubleshooting that category requires, provides photos of the maintenance issue and the affected area, picks a scheduling contact, and saves. Applicants cannot open requests; only current tenants can, and they can do it from the Hemlane tenant mobile app, which Hemlane notes is not available for rental owners or property managers. That photo step is the load-bearing one for anyone who cares about condition. It is the only place in a normal Hemlane month where a photograph of the inside of a unit is required of anybody.

Does Hemlane have a built-in inspection tool?
No, and the help centre is unusually candid about it. Asked how to perform a move inspection in Hemlane, the article does not describe a screen in the product. It offers three routes, and each one leaves out the same thing.
An in-person inspector, ordered from the Services tab, with a report and photos returned to you. Hemlane documents the scope carefully: windows, exterior doors, interior doors critical to egress, standard interior plumbing including confirming hot water, and a stated exception for exterior structure and the inside of appliances. The inspector cannot win or refer any of the repair business.
What it cannot doHemlane states plainly that the report is not able to confirm what damages the tenant caused, because it is a move-out inspection only and is not cross-referenced against any move-in inspection.A Hemlane inspection form you download and print, filled in by hand at the unit. It is the route most owners on the platform take, because it costs nothing and it is right there in the article.

Does RapidEye integrate with Hemlane?
Yes. RapidEye reads your property and unit list from Hemlane and the photos attached to maintenance and repair requests, plus any move-in or move-out photos your team takes, and returns a dated finding per issue with the earlier and later photo behind it. Nothing in Hemlane changes: requests, work orders, statuses and tenant messages stay exactly as they are.
Does Hemlane have a built-in inspection module?
No. Hemlane's help centre answers that question by offering three routes instead: its paid inspection add-on performed by a third-party inspector, a printable inspection form you download, or a third-party inspection app. There is no inspection record inside the Hemlane account itself, which is why the photos that do exist there sit on maintenance and repair requests.
Can a Hemlane move-out report tell me what the tenant damaged?
Not on its own. Hemlane's own documentation says its move-out inspection report is not able to confirm what damages were caused by the tenant, because it is a move-out inspection only and is not cross-referenced against any move-in inspection. A deduction needs two dated states of the same room. RapidEye builds the earlier state from the photos already in your account and compares the later one against it.
Where do the photos RapidEye reads come from?
Mostly from your Maintenance and Repair tab. Hemlane's request flow asks for photos of the maintenance issue and the affected area, so every request ever opened on a unit is a dated look at part of that unit. If you want full-room coverage rather than the corner that broke, RapidEye sends a capture link that opens on any phone with no app to install, and reads video walkthroughs the same way.
Will RapidEye close or edit my Hemlane maintenance requests?
No. RapidEye never opens, edits, closes or comments on a request or a work order, and never messages a tenant or a service professional. You decide what happens next, or your Hemlane repair coordinator does. RapidEye reads and reports.
I only run eleven doors on Hemlane. Is this for me?
Yes, and a small portfolio is where a missing baseline hurts most, because one contested deposit is a large share of the year. The work is the same at eleven units or two hundred: RapidEye reads what is already in the account and tells you which units carry a condition history worth having and which have a gap to fill before the next move-out.
