What a HammerTech Observation holds

Overview

A HammerTech Observation is a record of the thing somebody decided to raise; it is not a record of everything the camera saw when they raised it. The record is strong: a classification, a priority, a responsible party, a due date, up to ten photos with annotations, and photo evidence again at closeout, all filed against a project and a location. What no workflow anywhere covers is the rest of each frame, and the same corner three months later. RapidEye reads the photos on Observations and Inspections along with the project, location, date and who raised them, and returns one finding per issue with the two dated views side by side.

How it works with HammerTech

HammerTech is built so that a photo has somewhere to go the moment somebody takes it, in whichever module the person happens to be standing in. That is the whole basis of the integration: the photo library exists, dated and located, before RapidEye ever arrives. The checks follow the modules the photos come from.

  • Site Observations. The photos on a Negative Observation are the ones the safety team looks at hardest, so they are the most complete record of that area on that day. RapidEye reads them for what the Observation was not about: a damaged temporary barrier in the background, a hoarding panel that has moved since last week, formed work chipped at the corner, a section of floor that was clear in April and is now stacked with material.
  • Closeout photos. HammerTech lets a raiser require photo evidence of the fix, so most Observations end up with a before frame and an after frame of the same spot. RapidEye reads that pair as a pair: what was corrected, what was left, and whether anything new appeared in the frame between the two.
  • Inspection photos. Observations raised under a checklist question, or in the Other Observations section of an Inspection, carry photos as well. Because those Observations are tied to the checklist item, the photo can be checked against the standard the item states rather than against a general idea of tidy.
  • Equipment inductions and equipment inspections. Plant arrives, gets photographed at induction, and gets photographed again by authorised operators through the QR code or SMS link. RapidEye compares those frames over the life of the hire: a guard missing that was there at induction, a cracked window, a new dent on the counterweight, a hose weeping. That is the record that settles an off-hire dispute.
  • Positive Observations. HammerTech's Positive classification closes on creation, which makes it the cheapest and most-used photo in the system. Those frames are as readable as any other, and they cover parts of the site nobody had a reason to flag.

Every finding names the project, the location, the spot in the frame, the kind of issue (damage, unfinished work, a missing item, a hazard), how serious it is, the two dated photos, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want it there, a Slack channel or an inbox for the safety team. Nothing in HammerTech moves unless somebody on your team moves it. And photos are only the easiest starting point: if your crews already film walkthroughs, scan with LiDAR, or want findings scored against a standard of your own, that is a setup conversation, not a limitation.

How to connect HammerTech to RapidEye

  1. Pick the projects. Observations in HammerTech are tracked per project, so the projects you name are the scope of what RapidEye reads and reports on.
  2. Keep photos on the records. Whoever raises an Observation attaches photos the way they do now, from the HT Mobile app or the web. If a crew is logging text-only Observations today, a RapidEye capture link gives them a fixed set of angles from any phone with nothing to install.
  3. Add RapidEye as a user. In HammerTech, go to Administration, then User Management, click the plus, and add Rapid Eye with the email support@rapideyeinspections.com as a Standard User, with access to the projects you picked.

Nothing changes for the people on site. Same modules, same Observation types, same closeout.

What a HammerTech Site Observation actually holds

HammerTech is a site safety platform for large contractors, and the Observation is its smallest unit of accountability: the record somebody makes when they see something. According to HammerTech's help centre documentation (hammertech.com), an Observation can be raised from the Observations menu with the plus button, or from inside another module, and every one of them is a numbered, assigned, dated record on a project. The form is short by design, because it is filled in standing up. This is what it carries.

Where photos already exist in a HammerTech project

The Observation is the obvious one, but it is not the only place a camera gets used, and RapidEye reads across all of them because a location is a location whichever module photographed it.

Does HammerTech tell you what changed on site between two dates?

Not by design, and it is not trying to. HammerTech's job is that the right person is told about the right hazard and closes it out with proof, and its Observations documentation is built around exactly that: assignment, reminders, review of a submitted fix, and a filter set (status, dates raised, due and resolved, source, priority, category, type, classification, location, assignee, employer, function, raised by) that finds records rather than conditions. HammerTech Intelligence sits at the front of that flow, reading the one photo somebody chose in order to fill the form faster and more consistently, which is a real problem solved well.

What no product is doing is the second pass. A project generates thousands of photos in a year, each one already stamped with a project, a location and a date, and after the record they belong to is closed nobody opens them again. Reading them is a different question from routing them: not "who owns this hazard" but "what does this part of the building look like now compared with the last time somebody stood here". That is the question RapidEye answers, on top of the record HammerTech has already built.

Does RapidEye integrate with HammerTech?

Yes. RapidEye reads the photos attached to Site Observations and Inspections in HammerTech, along with the project, the location, the date and who raised the record, and returns a finding for every condition issue those photos show: damage, unfinished work, a missing item, a hazard left in frame. Your Observation types, classifications, priorities, checklists, assignees and closeout workflow stay exactly as they are. RapidEye writes nothing to HammerTech.

Can you attach photos to a HammerTech Site Observation?

Yes. HammerTech's help centre documents up to ten photos per Observation, annotated on upload if you want, plus separate resolution photos when the fix is submitted. Observations can also be raised inside an Inspection, under a checklist question or in the Other Observations section, and those carry photos too. That is the photo library RapidEye reads.

HammerTech Intelligence already reads my observation photo. What does RapidEye add?

Different job, same photo. HammerTech Intelligence works at the moment somebody raises a record: you scan the photo that best represents the issue and it pre-fills the type, classification and description so the record is quick and consistent. RapidEye works on the library afterwards, across every photo in the project rather than the one chosen frame, and across dates rather than one moment, so the same corner photographed in March and in June is compared and the difference is reported.

Will RapidEye create, close or edit Observations in HammerTech?

No. HammerTech stays the safety and compliance record. RapidEye does not raise Observations, set classifications, assign a responsible party, accept or reject a fix, or touch an Inspection. Findings collect in the RapidEye dashboard; Slack and email delivery are optional extras. Whether a finding becomes an Observation in HammerTech is a call your team makes.

Does this work across every project in the account?

Observations in HammerTech are tracked per project, and RapidEye follows that shape: findings are scoped to the project and the location the photos came from. Most teams start on one or two projects, then widen once the safety team trusts what comes back.

We shoot video walkthroughs of the site as well as photos. Can you read those?

Yes. Photos are the easiest starting point because they are already in HammerTech, but RapidEye reads whatever documentation a team produces, including video walkthroughs and 3D scans, and scores it against whatever standard the project cares about. If your team already films the walk, say so on the first call and we set it up that way.
