AI asset condition review for Fiix
Read the images your technicians attach to Fiix work orders, tasks and asset records, and get a condition finding per issue, filed to the asset it belongs to.
How a Fiix work order is builtOverview
A Fiix work order is a very good record of work claimed and a thin record of condition observed. It carries the asset, the priority, the tasks with their results, the labour and parts, and a Files tab where the photos land. Those photos are the only part of the record that shows the equipment rather than describing it, and once the status reads Closed, Complete almost nobody opens them again. RapidEye reads them: every image on your work orders, tasks and asset records, held against how that asset looked the last time somebody photographed it.
How it works with Fiix
Fiix already sorts work by type and files it against an asset, so the images arrive labelled. The reading follows the same structure.
- Scheduled maintenance. The same pump, the same task group, every six weeks. RapidEye holds that as a baseline for the asset and reports what changed since the last visit: fresh oil staining, a guard not refitted, a new dent in the housing.
- Inspection tasks. A pass answers the question that was asked. The photo behind it also shows the two metres around the equipment, and anything wrong there comes back as its own finding against the asset and its location.
- Reactive work orders. Somebody raised a request because something broke. The images on that job say whether the failure had been visible for months, which is the difference between bad luck and a missed round.
- Multi-asset routine inspections. Fiix supports one work order covering routine inspections across several assets with similar components. RapidEye splits the photos back out per asset, so one closure produces findings for each machine rather than one blurred verdict.
- Asset images over the life of the asset. Photos attached to the asset record itself become the long history: what this compressor looked like when it was installed, and what it looks like now.
Each finding names the asset, the site, the type of issue, how serious it is, the images it came from and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard, and in a Slack channel or the maintenance office inbox if you want it there. Your planner decides whether it becomes a work order in Fiix. If your teams shoot video walkthroughs, scans or a route of their own instead of stills, that is a setup conversation and not a limit; RapidEye reads whatever documentation the round already produces.
How to connect Fiix to RapidEye
- Your assets, locations and sites in Fiix. Findings are filed against that hierarchy, so whatever you have built there is what a finding points at, including the No Site default.
- The images your technicians already attach. Fiix says you can add images to work orders and asset records from your camera or image gallery, so nothing changes on the technician's phone. Where a round produces no photo today, RapidEye sends a capture link that opens on any phone with no app to install.
- A user for RapidEye. Create it under Settings and Users, in a user group that can read work orders and assets, then activate it. The Connect button has the details, and the first read covers the image history already on your records.
How a Fiix work order is built
Checked against Fiix's help centre and product pages, September 2026.
Fiix is a cloud CMMS, part of Rockwell Automation, and everything in it hangs off an asset. According to Fiix's help centre documentation (fiixsoftware.com), a work order carries a Files tab holding three kinds of attachment, a Labor Tasks tab where each task has its own attached files and media, and a status field whose values you define yourself in Settings, CMMS Settings and Lookup Tables. New work orders default to Open, and the worked example for finishing one is the status Closed, Complete.
Tasks are the checklist inside the work order, and Fiix documents four kinds. This is the part that decides what a technician is prompted to record, and therefore what the photos on the record are of.
Fiix notes that inspection tasks are available on its Basic plan and above, while general and meter reading tasks are available to free users. Tasks can be bundled into task groups and reused across work orders and scheduled maintenance.
Three of those four results are a number, a word or nothing at all. None of them describes what the equipment looked like, which is the job the attached image quietly does. Fiix's own guidance says a task group's attachments follow it onto every work order or scheduled maintenance record associated with it, so a well-built maintenance programme accumulates images against the same assets, month after month, at exactly the cadence a baseline wants.
- Files tabFiles, links and notes on the work order itself.
- Labor Tasks tabAttached files and media on each individual task.
- Asset recordImages on the equipment, independent of any one job.
- Mobile appImages uploaded from the camera or the device album.
Can you attach photos to a Fiix work order?
Yes, in several places. Fiix's mobile CMMS page says you can add images to work orders and asset records from your camera or image gallery, to flag issues and prepare for audits, and its help centre documents the Files tab on the work order, the attached files and media on each task, and image upload on parts. On mobile, images are specifically the file type a technician can upload, while other file types added on the web still appear in the same tab. A February 2026 release note adds that work orders in read-only mode now show the Files tab, so the photos on a closed job stay reachable to anyone who goes looking.
What does a closed Fiix work order prove?
That somebody closed it. Fiix's help centre is candid about the edge case: set a work order to Closed, Complete without entering completion details and the app fills in the completion date and time and writes a completion note reading "Completed by" followed by your name. Fiix gives you the controls to do better, including requiring completion notes and making closed work orders read-only, and a well-run team uses them. What no completion note can carry is the state of the asset and the two metres around it, and that is what RapidEye reads out of the images already sitting on the record. It matters most where the person closing the job is a contractor or a night-shift tech and nobody from the planning office was standing there.
Fiix integration FAQ
Does RapidEye integrate with Fiix?
Yes. RapidEye reads the images attached to your Fiix work orders, tasks and asset records, along with the asset, the site and the time, and returns a finding per issue with the images behind it. Your Fiix work orders, statuses, task groups, assets and schedules stay exactly as they are.
Can you attach photos to a Fiix work order?
Yes. Fiix says you can add images to work orders and asset records from your camera or image gallery, and its help centre documents a Files tab on the work order that holds files, links and notes, with individual tasks carrying their own attached files and media. In the mobile app, images are the file type technicians can upload.
How do you tell whether a closed Fiix work order was really finished?
The record tells you who closed it, not what the room looked like. Fiix's help centre notes that a work order set to Closed, Complete without completion details is auto-populated with the timestamp and a completion note reading Completed by, followed by the name. RapidEye reads the images attached to that closure and reports what they show about the asset and the space around it.
Does RapidEye read Fiix inspection tasks?
It reads the photos attached to them. Fiix inspection tasks record a result of pass, fail or N/A and can be configured to raise a follow-on work order on a given result. RapidEye reads the images on the task and the work order and reports what they contain, which is often more than the question asked for.
Will RapidEye change anything in Fiix?
No. Fiix stays the system of record for work orders, assets, parts and schedules. RapidEye reads and reports back; your planner decides whether a finding becomes a new work order in Fiix.
Does this work across multiple sites on one Fiix account?
Yes. Fiix organises users, assets and work orders by region and site, so the image history arrives labelled with the asset and the place it lives. RapidEye keeps a baseline per asset and per space, and ranks findings across every site on the account.
