RapidEye reads your 360 captures and Field Note photos from OpenSpace and returns a finding for every place on the sheet where something changed between two walks.
How OpenSpace holds the siteOverview
OpenSpace has already solved the hard half of this problem: the site is photographed completely, and every image knows where and when it was taken. Somebody clips a 360 camera to a hard hat, walks at a normal pace, and the Spatial AI engine timestamps the images and maps them onto the sheet. Field Notes pin the issues people raise on top of that, with zones, tags, assignees and due dates. What that produces is a building on a timeline, and a project with a year of walks behind it holds far more than any person will ever pan through. RapidEye reads it: every location on the sheet, across the dates you have, returning only the spots where the condition changed, with the two dated views paired.
How it works with OpenSpace
OpenSpace organises a project around two things: captures, which are the complete and indifferent record of the building, and Field Notes, which are the parts a person chose to point at. RapidEye reads both, and the difference between them is the whole point.
- Consecutive captures of the same sheet. The pair OpenSpace already lets you open in Split View is the pair RapidEye reads, at every point on the sheet rather than the one you navigated to. Finished drywall gouged by a lift, a fire door propped and scuffed, a bathroom that was tiled in one capture and is chipped in the next, ponding where the slab has not been draining.
- Field Note photos and their attachments. A Field Note is intent: somebody stood there, photographed something, marked it up and pinned it. RapidEye reads the photo and the attachments the note collected afterwards, so the closing evidence and the opening evidence are read as a pair rather than as two entries in an activity log.
- Zones. Because OpenSpace auto-tags every Field Note with the zone it falls in, and re-analyses them all when a zone changes, findings can be grouped the way the project is actually managed: by level, by trade area, by whoever is responsible for that part of the floor.
- Handover and the end of a trade's work. The capture taken the week a trade demobilises is the last honest picture of their work. RapidEye compares it against the captures after them, so damage that appeared later is attributable to later, and a backcharge argument starts from two dated frames instead of two recollections.
- Manual 360 photos and 3D scans. A single 360 photo of one room, or a LiDAR scan pinned to the sheet, is read the same way as a full walk. Small, targeted captures are often the cleanest input for a specific area under dispute.
A finding names the sheet and the pinned location, the spot in the frame, the kind of issue (damage, work not finished, something missing, a hazard), how serious, the two dated views, and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want it there, a Slack channel or an inbox for the project team. What happens next in OpenSpace, whether that is a Field Note, a punch item or an RFI, is yours. And if your standard is your own, an inspection form, a trade checklist, a client's handover spec, findings get scored against that instead of a generic one; that is a setup conversation.
How to connect OpenSpace to RapidEye
- Choose the projects and sheets. Captures, Field Notes and zones all live under a project in OpenSpace, so the projects you name are the scope of what RapidEye reads.
- Keep walking the site as usual. The 360 captures your team already takes are the input. Walking a similar path each time helps, and the capture coverage heatmap in the OpenSpace mobile app shows where previous captures went so the walk stays consistent.
- Invite RapidEye as a member. In the OpenSpace project, click the Members hard hat icon at the lower left, enter support@rapideyeinspections.com, and choose Viewer, which can view captures and Field Notes and nothing else.
That is the whole setup. Nobody on site does anything differently, and the Viewer role means RapidEye cannot change a thing even by accident.
How OpenSpace holds a site, capture by capture

According to OpenSpace's support centre documentation (openspace.ai), a 360 video capture starts in the mobile app: you connect a supported 360 camera, pick the sheet, tap your starting location, and walk. OpenSpace advises starting near something easily identifiable, a column, a corner, a door frame, and its product pages say an image is taken every half second so that even rooms you pass through quickly are covered. The Vision Engine learns a site as you capture it. What comes out the other end is a floor plan you can move around in by date, and that date axis is the part most teams underuse.

What the gaps say. Field Notes cluster where somebody was already looking. The captures in between hold every other part of that floor on those same dates, unexamined. RapidEye reads across the whole capture axis, so a location that never attracted a Field Note still gets compared with itself over time.

What a Field Note carries
A Field Note is OpenSpace's issue object, created on the web on any published 360 video or photo, or in the mobile app during a capture or any time you are on site. Its fields are all optional, which is deliberate: the point is that raising one never slows the walk down.
Fields as documented by OpenSpace. Viewers can see and comment; Editors and admins create and edit, and an Editor can only close notes they created themselves.
Can OpenSpace tell you what changed since the last walk?
Yes, and better than most: that is what Split View, Reveal Mode and BIM Compare are for. Split View puts two captures of the same point on the same sheet beside each other, with a calendar that shades a date dark blue when there is data at your current point of view, and a lock that ties both panes together as you navigate. Reveal Mode takes an old capture into the field and lays it over your phone camera as a transparency, so you can see the conduit behind the drywall you are standing in front of. The comparison is precise, and it is fast.
What none of those tools claims to be is exhaustive. Each one answers about one location, for the person who already suspects where to look, and a large project has more locations and more dates than anyone has hours. That gap does not belong to OpenSpace; it is arithmetic. RapidEye is the pass that runs across all of it, so the person who opens Split View is opening it at a location a finding already told them about, on the two dates that matter.
OpenSpace integration FAQ
Does RapidEye integrate with OpenSpace?
Yes. RapidEye reads your published 360 captures and the photos on Field Notes, along with the sheet, the pinned location, the zone and the capture date, and returns a finding for each condition issue it sees: damage, work that is not finished, something missing, a hazard. Your captures, sheets, Field Notes, statuses, tags and zones are untouched. RapidEye writes nothing to OpenSpace.
OpenSpace already lets me compare two dates in Split View. What does RapidEye add?
Split View is the right tool when you know which spot to look at. It puts two captures of the same point side by side and locks them together so you can navigate both at once, which is exactly what you want in a meeting. It needs a person to open it, one location at a time. RapidEye does the pass nobody has hours for: it reads every location on the sheet across the dates you have, and hands back only the spots where something changed, with the two views already paired.
Do I need to walk the site differently for this?
No. Whoever walks the site keeps clipping the camera to the hard hat and walking at a normal pace, the way OpenSpace is designed to be used. Consistent paths help, which is also what OpenSpace recommends for Split View, and the capture coverage heatmap in the mobile app is the easiest way to keep them consistent. Nothing about the capture routine changes.
Does RapidEye read Field Note photos as well as the 360 captures?
Both. A Field Note is somebody deliberately photographing something and pinning it to the plan, so it carries intent and a location, and it also carries the attachments, markups and comments added later. The 360 capture is the wide, indiscriminate record of the same building on the same day. Read together, one tells RapidEye what the team already cares about and the other shows everything nobody flagged.
Will RapidEye create Field Notes or change my captures?
No. OpenSpace stays the record of the site. RapidEye does not create or close Field Notes, assign anyone, change a status, move a pin, edit sheets, or alter a capture. Findings land in the RapidEye dashboard and, if you want them there, a Slack channel or an inbox for the project team. Turning a finding into a Field Note, an RFI or a punch item is your team's call.
Can RapidEye help with a claim or a backcharge?
That is what dated captures are for. Every finding comes with the two views it was drawn from, each stamped with its sheet location and its capture date, so the record of when a wall was clean and when it was gouged is a pair of images rather than a memory. OpenSpace already holds the evidence; RapidEye is what finds the frames worth keeping.
