How a Driveroo inspection is built

Overview

Driveroo already gets the picture taken. Nothing gets it looked at. Its visual walkaround shows an operator the exact asset and the exact points to check, forces comments, captures severity, and turns the whole thing into a time-stamped, geo-tagged DVIR with the images inside it. That is the hard half, and Driveroo does it well. The second half is that a fleet running a hundred pre-trip checks a day produces several hundred images a day, and they are filed rather than read. RapidEye reads them: it takes the images, video and notes on each Driveroo inspection along with the unit, the operator and the time, and returns a finding for every defect the walkaround left behind.

How it works with Driveroo

Driveroo's inspections are asset-specific, so the checks follow the kinds of inspection your fleet actually runs rather than a generic list.

  • Pre-trip DVIRs. The images from this morning's walkaround go against the images from yesterday's. A tyre that has gone from worn to cut, a lamp lens that cracked overnight in the yard, a fresh dent on a trailer skirt come back as findings before the unit rolls.
  • Post-trip DVIRs. The unit came back different from how it left. RapidEye holds the pre-trip frames against the post-trip frames and attributes what changed to the day, which is the difference between a shop conversation and an argument.
  • Items marked pass. Driveroo records a pass as the operator's judgment on a checklist line. RapidEye reads the image attached to that line and says whether the image agrees. A leak under the tractor in the frame with brakes marked pass is exactly the case worth catching.
  • Missing equipment. Fire extinguisher, triangles, chocks, spill kit, the strap that was in the side box last week. RapidEye knows what a fully kitted unit looks like at your fleet and says when this one is not.
  • Equipment and yard assets. Forklifts, dock doors, reefer units, compressors. The same reading, against a separate baseline per asset, so a mast and a tractor are not judged by the same standard.

Each finding names the unit, the part of the vehicle, the spot in the image, the kind of problem, how serious it is, the images on either side of it and a suggested next step. It lands in the RapidEye dashboard, and in a Slack channel or an inbox for the shop and the fleet manager if you want it there. The shop decides whether that becomes an issue or a work order in Driveroo; RapidEye does not open one for you. Images are the common case and not the limit: walkaround video, a fixed camera at the gate, or a condition standard of your own are all things we set up with you rather than things the product cannot do.

How to connect Driveroo to RapidEye

  1. The inspections you already run. DOT eDVIR pre-trip and post-trip checks, equipment inspections, condition reports, whatever your fleet has configured. RapidEye reads the unit, the operator and the time from the inspection record.
  2. The images already attached to them. Driveroo guides operators to capture visual proof on the walkaround, so in most fleets there is nothing new to do. For a unit that needs angles nobody captures today, a RapidEye capture link opens on any phone, no app to install, a fixed set of angles per asset.
  3. Read access, and a starting set of units. Tell us the account and where to start. We read the inspection image history first to build a baseline per unit, then take each new inspection as its images finish uploading. Operators keep the same walkaround on the same phone.

According to Driveroo's product documentation (driveroo.com), the app shows operators the exact assets and exactly what to inspect, works online and offline on iOS and Android, takes voice-to-text notes, and supports a multi-language interface for mixed crews. Its own five-step description of the flow is the clearest map of where the images come from.

Does Driveroo already compare inspection images?

Yes, on request. Driveroo's DVIR dashboards include a comparison tool for images, so a manager can put two inspections of the same asset side by side and see what changed between them. It is a genuinely good tool and it is the right one when you already have a suspicion: a unit came back from a run, a customer is disputing a charge, a technician wants the history of a panel. What no comparison tool can do is be opened three hundred times a day. The reviewing is the scarce thing in a fleet, not the capturing, and Driveroo has already solved the capturing. RapidEye runs the comparison automatically on every inspection as it is submitted, against a baseline built from that unit's own image history, and hands back only the ones with something in them. The manager still opens the comparison tool; they just open it on the units worth opening.

Does RapidEye integrate with Driveroo?

Yes. RapidEye reads the images, video and notes your operators attach to Driveroo inspections, including DOT eDVIR checks, along with the unit and the operator on the record, and returns a finding per issue: damage, a defect the walkaround did not flag, or missing equipment, with the images behind it. Your Driveroo inspections, checklists, work orders and reports are not changed.

Driveroo already compares inspection images. What does RapidEye add?

Driveroo's DVIR dashboards include a comparison tool for images, so a manager can put two inspections of the same asset side by side and see what changed. That is the right tool when you already suspect something. RapidEye runs the same question over every submission without anyone asking, so the unit nobody suspected is the one that gets flagged.

Can RapidEye catch a defect the operator marked pass?

That is the main thing it does. A pass in Driveroo is an operator's judgment recorded against a checklist item. RapidEye reads the images attached to that same inspection and says what is in them: a cut sidewall, a cracked lens, a leak under the tractor, a missing fire extinguisher. If the image contradicts the pass, the finding names the unit, the part and the frame.

Does RapidEye read the inspection history or only new inspections?

Both. On first connection RapidEye reads your existing inspection images to build a baseline for each unit, which is what makes new damage legible as new. After that it reads each inspection as its images finish uploading.

Will RapidEye change my Driveroo inspections or work orders?

No. Driveroo stays the system of record for inspections, issues, work orders and the DVIR itself. RapidEye reads and reports back. The shop and the fleet manager decide whether a finding becomes an issue or a work order in Driveroo.

Is this useful for a mixed fleet of trucks and yard equipment?

Yes, and mixed fleets are where it earns the most. Driveroo runs asset-specific inspections across tractors, trailers, forklifts and equipment, and RapidEye keeps a separate baseline per unit, so a forklift mast and a reefer door are judged against what that unit looked like last time rather than against a generic standard.
