How a Prism inspection is built

Overview

Prism captures the answer to every inspection question and the picture beside it, and the answer is what gets acted on. An engineer walks a round in Prism Mobile, answers each question, adds a note, a photo or a video, and raises a work order on the spot when something fails. Prism scores the round, trends it and pushes the failure into the work order queue. What nobody has time to do afterwards is look at the pictures again. RapidEye reads them, holds each one against the same checkpoint on earlier rounds, and returns a finding for what the photograph shows and the answer did not say.

Building by buildingEach finding carries the property and the space it came from, so a portfolio review reads as a list of rooms rather than a list of files.

How it works with Prism

Prism produces documentation at several points in a building's week, and each one is a different kind of evidence. RapidEye reads them together.

  • Inspection rounds. The photo attached to a question is the checkpoint's condition on that date. RapidEye compares it to the same question on the last round and reports what moved: a stain that spread, a guard that came off, a stairwell that is being used for storage again.
  • Failed points that became work orders. When a point fails, Prism raises the work order and notifies the right people. RapidEye reads the photos on both records, so the failure and the fix are one story rather than two.
  • Work order close-outs. Photos, comments and costs collect on the work order. RapidEye reads the closing photos against the ones taken when the request came in and reports what is still visible, including the things nobody asked about.
  • Preventive maintenance checklists. The digital checklists engineers complete on mobile replace paper logs, and their photos are the most repetitive in the account. Repetition is what makes drift measurable.
  • Videos from the field. Prism's documentation notes that engineers can upload video to document issues. A short walk through a mechanical room carries far more of the room than a single frame does, and RapidEye reads video the same way it reads stills.

Each finding names the building, the space, the kind of issue, how serious it is, the before and after evidence, and a suggested next step. It posts to the RapidEye dashboard, and your property team can take it in Slack or email instead. The team decides what becomes a work order in Prism. How to connect Prism to RapidEye

  1. Templates that ask for the photo. Prism templates carry custom fields, photo requirements and rating scales, so the checkpoints that matter most to you are the ones worth requiring a picture at. Whatever the templates ask for today is where we start.
  2. The same rounds, in the same app. Engineers keep opening the Inspections module, answering questions, attaching notes, photos and videos, and tapping Complete. Rounds walked with no signal sync when the device reconnects and are read once they land.
  3. A Prism user for RapidEye. Add us under My Users with the properties you want read assigned. The connect panel has the exact path.

How a Prism inspection is built

Prism is the operations platform for commercial buildings, and inspections sit at the centre of how a property team knows what condition its space is in. According to Building Engines' own documentation (buildingengines.com), an inspection starts as a template defined once and deployed across every property, carrying custom fields, photo requirements and rating scales so the process does not depend on the building or the person walking it. In the field it arrives as an inspection task in the mobile app: a list of questions, each of which can take a note, a photo or a work order, with videos supported as well. When every question is answered, the engineer taps Complete.

What happens next is the part Prism is good at. Failed items can trigger escalation workflows, dashboards aggregate inspection results across the portfolio, and scores can be tracked against property-specific targets and compared between buildings. Findings flow into work orders so nothing gets logged and forgotten, which is the promise the product makes and keeps.

So what is left for a second reader to find?

The part of the frame nobody was asked about. An inspection question directs attention: the engineer is answering whether the emergency light works, and Prism records that answer faithfully. The photograph taken to evidence it also contains a ceiling tile with a water stain, a fire door wedged open, a pallet in a corridor and a scuffed wall that was clean in March. None of that is a failed point, because no question asked. Reading the photographs independently of the questions is what the integration adds, and it costs the engineer nothing extra: the round they already walk is the input.

Yes. RapidEye reads the photos and videos your engineers attach to inspection questions and to work orders in Prism, together with the building, the space and the date each one belongs to, and returns a finding for every issue it sees. Prism keeps its inspection tasks, templates, scores and work orders exactly as they are.

Where do photos live on a Prism inspection?

On the question. Building Engines' documentation for Inspections on the Prism mobile app says an engineer can add a note, a photo or a work order to each question in an inspection task, and that videos can now be uploaded as well. RapidEye reads the attachments question by question, so a finding arrives already attached to the checkpoint it came from.

Prism already fails an inspection point and raises a work order. What does RapidEye add?

Prism acts on the answer the engineer gave. RapidEye reads the picture that was taken beside it, which sometimes shows something the answer does not: a leak in the background of a lighting check, a blocked exit two frames later, corrosion that has grown since the same round last month.

Do rounds walked with no signal still get read?

Yes. Building Engines describes capturing data in basements, rooftops and mechanical rooms without connectivity, with automatic syncing once the device reconnects. RapidEye reads the attachments after they sync, so a basement round is treated the same as one walked in a lobby.

Will RapidEye change inspections, work orders or scores in Prism?

No. Prism stays the operations system of record. RapidEye reads and reports, and the property team decides whether a finding becomes a work order, a callback to the vendor or a note for the next round.

Can RapidEye compare the same space across a whole portfolio?

That is the point of reading rounds rather than single jobs. Because Prism deploys the same template across every property, the photos come back in the same order for the same checkpoints, which is what makes a lobby in one building comparable to a lobby in another and to itself six months ago.
