A Kaleris yard record is a precise account of where an asset is and when it moved. It carries the check-in, the spot on the yard map, the dock, the dwell clock and the check-out, and Kaleris now automates condition documentation at the gate itself. The stretch that lives only in photos and in people's heads is the middle: the hours between gate-in and gate-out, when the box is spotted, shunted, loaded, opened and worked around. RapidEye reads the asset list and the gate and move times from Kaleris, reads the photos your team takes across that stretch, and returns one finding per issue against the standard your site runs to.
How it works with Kaleris
Kaleris organises the yard around gates, spots, docks and exceptions, so the checks follow the same nouns. Each one below is an example of a place photos already exist, not a boundary: RapidEye reads whatever documentation a site produces, from a phone burst to a video walk around a trailer to a fixed camera set, and scores it against whatever condition standard you care about.
- Gate check-in and check-out. The two moments carriers argue about. Photos taken here come back as a condition record for the asset, with the dents, the tyre state, the seal and the door hardware named separately rather than filed as one image set nobody opens.
- Spots on the yard map. A drop trailer can sit for days. A photo when it lands and a photo when it leaves the spot gives you what changed while it was parked, including the things nobody reports, like a torn curtain or a mud-buried landing gear.
- Dock doors. Damage found at the door is the most expensive kind, because the load is halfway in. RapidEye reads the dock photos and flags the interior state too: a wet floor, a broken shoring rail, debris left from the last load.
- Exception management. Kaleris lets you build event-triggered watches on the yard. RapidEye is the version of that for condition: instead of watching for a dwell threshold, it watches every photo and raises the ones that show a problem.

Nothing acts on Kaleris; your team decides whether the finding becomes a hold, a claim or a work order. According to Kaleris product documentation (kaleris.com), the yard product ships in tiers, from a cost-effective build for compact or lower-volume yards with gate, dock and asset management, through a spotter kit for tasking, up to an RTLS build for complex high-volume yards, and its documented feature set is gate management, asset management, dock management, exception management, configuration management, KPI benchmarking and yard analytics. Driver check-in runs through kiosks that Kaleris notes are SSO-enabled and need no app download, in any language, so throughput at the gate does not depend on the carrier's phone. Does Kaleris document trailer damage?
At the gate, yes, and thoroughly. In April 2026 Kaleris announced an AI gate vision capability for its Yard Management System, described in its newsroom as automating condition and damage documentation at gate-in and gate-out. The stated capabilities include optical character recognition of container numbers, ISO codes, chassis IDs and tractor plates without stopping the truck; a 360-degree damage and condition inspection using high-resolution cameras to detect dents, structural damage or rust, which Kaleris calls a digital replica of the asset at the moment of entry or exit; hazmat placard, IMDG label and bolt seal detection; edge processing at the gate; and native synchronisation back into the yard map. That is a serious piece of gate infrastructure, and where it is installed the gate end of this page is already handled.
What no gate can see is the middle, and most sites do not have gate vision on every lane at every facility. The photos that cover the middle already exist: a jockey's phone, a dock lead's phone, a maintenance shot, a claims photo taken in a hurry. They land in a camera roll or a group chat, and nobody reads them against the last time that same asset was photographed. That is the part RapidEye takes: every photo of the asset, compared with the last set, tied to the Kaleris asset ID and the gate times around it, returned as findings a yard manager can work from.

Does this work on a small yard, not a port terminal?
Yes. Kaleris sells its yard product in tiers down to compact and lower-volume yards, and a smaller site is often where nobody is reviewing photos at all because there is no dedicated gate team. Photo count, not yard size, is what RapidEye scales with.
